Girls Who Grind Coffee are not only an all-female specialty coffee roastery, they also source all their coffees from women coffee producers too. This month’s Roaster Roster selection is named for the women who grow it at Mió in Brazil and is described by GWG co-founder, Fi, as “a real experience, A big ole-heavy mouthfeel married with sugary-sweetness, black cherry, and enough citrus acidity to keep things balanced.”

  • Tasting notes: juicy black forest cherry gummy sweets / pomelo / new wave
  • Origin: Monte Santo De Minas, Brazil
  • Varietal: Mundo Novo, Yellow Catuai
  • Process: Natural
  • Size: 250g

Every coffee has a history

Mió, the company that produced this coffee in Monte Santo De Minas, Brazil, is run by three women: a mother-daughter duo, Renata and Ana, and Chris. They all share a passion for sustainability and championing women within the coffee industry.

Mió prides itself on a 100% traceability guarantee for the entire crop every year. Each stage of the journey, from where the cherries were harvested to which trucks moved them, is tracked using satellite imagery. Being a technology-driven farm improves the farmworkers’ quality of life, ensures an abundant harvest, and guarantees the highest processing standards for the crop.

Mió aims to oversee every part of the supply chain. They export their own coffee and sell directly to roasteries themselves. Buying coffee from Mió is as trustworthy and straightforward as buying vegetables at your farmers’ market.
